For over 30 years, UHEA has held an annual Convention and Curriculum Fair for adults and teens. The Convention and Curriculum Fair runs a half day on Friday and all day on Saturday. Registration includes keynote speakers for adults and teens, panels, workshops and many home education related vendor booths and exhibits. Babes in arms are always welcome. We do not provide childcare services.
The 2014 Convention and Curriculum Fair of the Utah Home Education Association will be held in the brand new Utah Valley Convention Center (220 W. Center Street, Provo, Utah) Friday and Saturday, June 6 - 7, 2014.
Check out the Utah Valley Information website. It is filled with ideas for things to do and places to go while you are in Provo for the convention.
Adult Keynote Speaker
Diana Waring, author of Beyond Survival, Reaping the Harvest, and Diana Waring's History Revealed world history curriculum will be the adult keynote. Diana is well known for her rapid-fire history recordings and workshops. Extremely happily married, Bill and Diana Waring homeschooled their three children nearly twenty years. The Waring kids (now all grown) were the proving grounds for all the concepts and encouragements taught by Diana--real-life examples of the wonders of home schooling!
She is a passionate storyteller, describing transparently and humorously how she discovered that education is relational; presenting rapid-fire, spine-tingling stories from history--and how parents can teach history in a way that makes history come ALIVE!; and sharing real encouraging, give-you-hope-to-carry-on stories of parenting and homeschooling. In entertaining and inspiring ways, Diana speaks from the vantage point of having lived it out and learned about it over the past three decades.
With an international background (born in Germany, university degree in French, lifelong student of world history), Diana cares about how people learn as well as what they learn. The Warings mission: "To serve families by encouraging, equipping, and educating in an entertaining way." Education that's Relational!
