We at UHEA have, for the past few years, been very fortunate to have been served by an able and dedicated Legislative Liaison, Karianne Lisonbee. Through her vigilant monitoring of bills in the Utah Legislature she has been in a position to give the UHEA community ample warning of any potential threats to our liberties and rights as home educating families. Unfortunately, this is the last year that she will be able to fill this important role. We need to find the right person to step into this position with the UHEA.

The right candidate is dedicated, savvy, and very comfortable talking with others and articulating the position of the UHEA on legislation or pending bills. This position does require a physical presence at the Capitol during much of the Utah Legislative session from late January through mid-March. This is a demanding volunteer position. It takes a great deal of time and effort to stay abreast of the political process and to build and nurture relationships with those who are involved in that process. The Legislative Liaison is, essentially, an unpaid volunteer citizen lobbyist providing invaluable service and information to the UHEA and the home educating community. If you feel that this is a role you would be willing to take on or if you know of someone that would be a good fit for this position please contact the UHEA Board as soon as possible at uhea.website@gmail.com. We would love the opportunity to get to know you better. Thank you!
